I've always been fascinated by the beauty of the structures and textures found in the natural world. There are many natural structures in our surrounding environments that we pass by each day without noticing.
I draw in pen and ink, using a characteristic signature style of vertical lines and a monochrome palette. I'm looking to capture the subtle interactions of light and shadow using this simple method. More recently, I've been exploring the use of digital methods to draw and add colour to landscape drawings.
My work tends to focus on landscapes from the British countryside. I take my own reference photos as a key part of the process and can often be found walking outside with a camera in hand. I'm lucky to have some great walking trails on my doorstep, many of which have been a fantastic source of inspiration.
I have a home studio in Wiltshire and balance art with my other life as a full-time scientist.
